Replace Node in Customer Edge Site
Overview
The following information explains how to replace a pool node in an F5 Distributed Cloud site.
Before you begin
Before you get started, you must have the following:
-
A Distributed Cloud account. If you don't have an account, see Get Started with Distributed Cloud Console.
-
A registered and running Distributed Cloud site that meets the required minimum resources. For a full listing of the resources required, see the Customer Edge Site Sizing Reference guide. All the nodes in a CE site should have the same compute, memory, and disk storage resources. When you deploy in cloud environments, these nodes should use the same instance flavor.
Replace a pool node in a multi-node site
Complete the following steps to replace a pool node.
Important: You can't replace only a control node. If you need to replace a control node, contact F5 Support.
Important: To decommission a physical hardware node, power-off the node before you start the decommissioning process.
-
In the Multi-Cloud Network Connect workspace, select Manage > Site Management > Registrations.
-
Decommission the pool node you want to replace:
-
Select Other Registrations.
-
In the Cluster Name column, find the name of the pool node you want to decommission.
-
In the Actions Column, select the Action (...) menu.
-
Select Decommission, and then confirm.
Important: The node registration is RETIRED first and then deleted from the list of registrations. Wait until the registration is deleted before moving to the next step.
-
-
Delete the pool node from your public cloud location or enterprise locations per your setup.
-
Install another Distributed Cloud Node of the same type of your setup. For instructions, see Customer Edge Deployment.
The cluster name and size of the new node must be the same as the other nodes in the cluster. If you are using certified hardware, make sure the same image is used.
-
After you deploy a new node, verify the site health. For information, see Verify CE Site Registration.
